Our History

Sr. Master Scott Biskie moved to Hays in August of 1993. He started teaching taekwondo at Ultimate Fitness Concept, which was then owned by Christine Humphrey. Mrs. Humphrey had a history with Sun Yi's Academy as she started her business by renting a space from the Sun Yi's Academy in Salina, KS.

Initially, he only taught law enforcement because he was not certain if he would remain in Hays.

His first two black belts were Dennis Dinkel and Matt MacNemee.

He decided to stay in Hays and purchased a building in the Summer of 1994 where he taught for many years. In September of 2004 he bought the building where Sun Yi's Academy is located now.

Over the course of 20 years he trained many students to become black belts and guided many to becoming instructors and masters.

Sr. Master Biskie pioneered the Little Lions Program which has now been adopted by other Sun Yi's Academy branches all over America.

Among the first to go into the Little Lions program were his own children, who later became black belts as adults.

He retired in 2019 and two of his students, Trevor Steinert and Isaac North, took over the academy. Mr. Steinert is a Certified Instructor and Jr. Master North serves as the Chief Instructor.
